Finding Peace in the Midst of Turmoil

Happy February beautiful people!! I can’t believe it’s already February. Time literally waits for no one. As I’m listening to the news and paying attention to the changes happening from outside and within, I began to hear the word PEACE. How can one find peace in the midst of the noise coming from outside? How do you shut down the noise, no matter how loud it becomes, to get on your knees and ask God to give you peace? We’ve all been there! The question is “what are you going to do about it?” I began doing my research and here are few tips that help me go through turmoil and I hope you find this information helpful to you as well.

Tip #1: Prayer. First let’s start with the bible verse that says “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7 One thing I like about praying before doing anything is that it gives me the confidence in God to know what He is saying and hoping to get the answer that I’m looking for, which we all know might not be the case. All I know is get on your knees and pray to God, then believe that it’s already answered. I believe God answers our prayers so that’s why it’s my number one key.

Tip #2: Being Still. In Psalm 46:10 “Be still and know that I am God!” This one is very important because you have to have inner peace within yourself before trying to have peace on the outside. I personally relate well with this key because I tend to not speak about the situation and I’m silent with people around me but you better believe that I’m constantly praying and talking to God about the circumstance. As long as you believe that God is in control, then nothing else matters.

Tip #3: Finding a spirit filled church and true members that go to that church whom you can trust with your situation. I believe God puts people in your path for a reason and a purpose so it’s imperative that you talk to someone well-trusted. The situation can look so bad that we can feel overwhelmed and ready to give up. Peace of mind is far from us, and we don’t know what to do to fix the problem. The good news is that there is One who stands ready to help, if we simply reach out to Him. Sometimes a problem that we’ve been wrestling with takes a turn for the worse. Other times, we’re blindsided by trouble that pops up seemingly out of nowhere. Regardless of how big it seems, God is bigger.

I encourage you to find peace in God as you go through your turmoil. Stay blessed and encouraged.
