A New Book Coming Soon…

IMG_0999.PNG

Let me start by saying how excited I am to be called an author amongst thirty-five other amazing and inspirational authors ready to share their stories for global impact. God is definitely up to something. I took a leap of faith when our daughter was born by deciding to leave my job and refocus my career path. I knew that staying home full time was going to be a sacrifice on both of us. However, I also know it was a season for me to look deeply in my heart and ask myself an honest question which is “what are you passionate about?”

I began to brainstorm on a passion that I thought I would go for until it came down to being an inspirational and motivational speaker. I get excited when I’m being asked to speak to a group of youth and inspire them by sharing my story of how I came about doing what I’m doing today. That’s my passion.

I went to God and asked Him how I could pursue being an inspirational and motivational speaker and He was silent for some time until He eventually revealed it to me. He told me to start blogging and putting my contents on YouTube. These platforms are to be used to inspire and motivate viewers. I truly enjoy blogging and making videos on YouTube and I am so grateful for the platforms.

Writing my blogs has opened up a bigger opportunity that has become a dream come true. I still can’t believe that on August 8, 2017 this amazing book called “Courageous World Catalysts” will be coming out. A lot of you have shown your interest in having a copy but if you haven’t sent me your request, do so on my social media platforms (Facebook and Instagram). I wouldn’t want you to miss this opportunity of getting a copy. Thank you for all the support you have shown me. I appreciate you and pray for God’s continual blessings over your life. Stay inspired and be encouraged!

Thankful Thursday

IMG_9759

Happy Birthday to the most supportive, selfless, caring, hardworking man I know. Thank you so much babe 😍for all you do for Kizzy and I. Things like driving me to the nail shop and sitting down for hours waiting for me to get a mani and pedi done, taking out Kizzy’s twist out and making it look pretty even after a long day from work. The numerous date nights we have sitting in front of the tv at night, so excited to watch the movie you picked out and, all of a sudden, the movie begins to watch us. Oh, remember that movie we wanted to watch and it took us about three days to actually finish watch it and if I remember it’s called “The Ugly Truth” which ended up being a good movie; I could still hear your loud laughter in the room.

Oh! Should I mention about you picking out our clothes every Sunday morning, dolling us up and making people think I’m the one that does it 😜 You pick out the shoes, including the accessories to match with all of our outfits and I must say you do a pretty darn good job with all the coordination; others can testify to this I’m sure.

How can I forget recently during this week of Vacation Bible School what you did that blew my mind away. You had a crazy busy day at work that made you get off at a late hour. You met up with your brother at the gym and ended up coming back so exhausted and worn out. I felt for you so badly. Knowing how supportive of you towards anything that concerns me, you took the time to teach me a dance skit that I needed to learn for VBS. You made sure I learned it in order to teach the kids the next day. How thoughtful are you babe!

There’s no amount of “thank you’ that would supersede your kindness to not just me but to all that surrounds you. I can go on and on and on but I’ll stop here for now because my mouth is filled with joy and laughter for always having me as your number one. You are a man that speaks louder than just words. I’m a firm believer that actions speaks louder than words and you definitely meet that goal. Today, I’m raising a glass of sparkling cider in celebration of your special day. Cheers to forever being the man of your words. It’s going to be an adventure with you today and you have no idea so let’s go! #adakuinspires

Thankful Thursday

IMG_0785.PNG

Hey lovelies, I hope you are having an AWESOME day. Well, I want to share with you that today’s Thankful Thursday is about “opportunities.” Sometimes we get opportunities that are presented to us and we ignore it because it has nothing to do with our career or family life. Well, I am extremely excited and thankful for an opportunity that I was presented with and I took it. I’m sorry I can’t say much about it but you’ll hear more on it very very soon. Stay tuned and keep following me on this journey.

I would like to encourage you today and let you know that God presents opportunities in our lives everyday. They may be big or small but they make a huge impact in our lives. When opportunity knocks, don’t let fear hold you back. Open the door and embrace the opportunity that has come your way. My prayer for you is that God will open your eyes to see beyond your surroundings and that He will orchestrate your path to come across opportunities that will blow your mind. My opportunity came as I was casually talking to a friend and God used her to direct me into this HUGE dream which is about to come through and, up till now, I still can’t believe it. God is truly AWESOME. By the way, check out my latest post on YouTube. Click on the link below to hear about my upcoming updates that may interest you. You don’t want to miss following me for the next couple of weeks and months because it’s going to be exciting.

As you go about your day, pray for an open door of opportunity to flow your way. You never know that person you give a handshake to, smiled at, or prayed for may be the very person that is linked to your opportunity. Stay blessed and be inspired. #adakuinspires

Fabulous Friday

It gives me joy when I see one of closest friends take some time to pamper themselves. Those of you that know me will agree that I love things that are elegant and fabulous and this picture right here, says it all.

IMG_0692

For the past couple of months now, I have been looking for natural ways to get a manicure. I never thought such a thing was possible until I walked into a place called Vibrant nails. This place is the real deal. Their service is top notch and they take their time to make sure you get what you paid for. The new natural way of getting your manicure or pedicure done is by using a product called SNS. SNS is for healthy nails, unlike gel or acrylic. SNS are much thinner, light weight, easy to do and, most importantly, helps your clients’ nails grow out stronger and healthier by adding calcium and 5 different kinds of vitamins. Hearing this alone was what did it for me.

I know this is not my typical blog but I am so excited to know that my friends are also seeing a difference in their nails. In the picture above, Robin added tips to make it longer but you don’t have to add tips if you don’t like long nails. I usually go for short ones because I work with my hands a lot, but it’s your preference whether you do or don’t add tips. If Robin can get a look like this especially with her active role in the military, you can too and I encourage you to go get pampered in a healthy way!

Stay fabulous and be inspired today

5 Ways to be Thankful on Such a Thankful Thursday

Each Thursday, I share positive ideas to help you reflect on positive things and direct you to focus on being. I’ve called them, “Thankful Thursdays” as a reminder that you can move through anything in life with a grateful heart. Gratitude invites the wind of hope. Sometimes just getting out of bed should make us grateful because, in many homes today, some people didn’t wake up.

Today is the perfect day to be thankful, even if your heart may be going through a lot of struggles and pain. Today I want to present to you…”5 Ways to be Thankful”

1. I am alive.

It is an amazing thing to know I am here now. I have this moment and this day to experience and make an impact in someone’s life. In the past few months, I was involved in 2 accidents and walked away with no pain or broken bones.

2. The kindness of people I have never met before.

I get kind and supportive emails and messages from people all around the world that I have never met who read my blog or view my YouTube channel.Their expressions of gratitude make my life happier and help me when things feel tough. I appreciate the simple random acts of kindness in daily life, for example, when people let me skip ahead of them in the checkout line in the store when I only have a few items. Also, when someone stays for a few seconds and holds the door for me, especially when I’m struggling carrying Kizzy on my hip with one hand and pushing the cart with the other hand. Or not to mention when people let go me into their lane when I drive (this is a modern day miracle in Maryland).

3. Look at you.

When you see your reflection anywhere today, be grateful. You are an amazing, living, breathing being that is like no one else on this earth. Your body carries you wherever you wish to go. Be grateful for all the parts of you. Love this time, love yourself and be thankful.

4. Small things matter.

I enjoy drinking plenty of water everyday. It is certainly something I take for granted from time to time. In some other countries, there’s scarcity of water, and sometimes the water is not clean. I read that, today, 1 in 10 people lack access to safe drinking water; women and girls spend 6 hours each day collecting water according to water.org. If you are one of the people in the world who is lucky enough to experience running water, stop and be grateful. Running water is a miracle and simply, quite wonderful. Water does so many wonderful things for us. It can wash our clothes, clean our hair, keep us alive, cool us down, warm our bellies and much more. Feel the water you use today and be thankful.

5. Open your eyes to gratitude.

Find one thing to be thankful for as soon as you open your eyes in the morning. You can be thankful for your eyes, another day, your breath, or a new opportunity. Don’t think about yesterday, or worry about tomorrow. The Bible says, “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?” (Matthew 6:25-27)

What do you feel thankful for even when you might be going through a tough day or time? Be grateful and stay inspired. #adakuinspires

Thankful Thursday

Yay! Another Thankful Thursday that I get to share my heart to you lovelies! 🙂 Here it goes:

Compassion Commission started this week and youth from out of town were placed in several host homes and we are one of those host homes. The fact that these young beautiful girls all came together to be placed in one environment is a great picture to see. My hubby and I are blessed to have four girls this year. One of the four is from New York and the other three are local Marylanders. These four girls are unique in their own way. They have different personalities but ONE THING for sure is that they all want to encounter God in a way they’ve never seen before.

IMG_0509.JPG

Yesterday’s service was so powerful that nobody wanted to leave the sanctuary including these four girls. They got their breakthroughs yesterday and it’s not even the end of the event. One of them opened up to me yesterday by saying she’s never cried in a service before and yesterday’s service was the very first time she cried. I believe God is doing something and I can’t wait to see even more breakthroughs over whatever burden they’re carrying. God says in Matthew 11:28 ” Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

I believe that God wants to show up in the next generation and it starts within our homes. If we as Christians don’t do anything about it, the world will and, by that time, it’s too late. I thank God everyday for giving me an opportunity to impact the next generation which I’m so passionate about and I don’t plan to stop. Sometimes the enemy will present challenges that you feel are too big for you to handle and the best thing to do when those situations arise is to present it back to God and ask Him to take control. My heart is so full of joy right now and I am forever thankful to have these set of girls in Compassion Commission 2017.

What are you doing to impact the next generation? Leave your comments below and share your thoughts on some challenges you’ve even come across while trying to impact their lives. Stay positive. Be blessed. Be inspired. #adakuinspires

Happy 4th Everyone!

IMG_0497

Where did the first half of 2017 go? I seriously ask myself that question a lot these days and, not to mention, we’re already celebrating our nation’s independence? Well, it’s been very busy in this side of town with our Youth Summer Camp called ‘Compassion Commission’. Youth from several states are here and have come together to serve in Baltimore city and work on a house that will be given away at the end of the week to a veteran. Isn’t that an awesome way to celebrate this week that America is also celebrating their freedom?

I’m sure for some of you it requires fireworks, parades, hotdogs, ice cream, making strawberry and blueberry shortcake, with an addition of the pool to cool down in this hot weather! Some of you might even want to stay indoors and watch a lot of patriotic movies or listen to some patriotic music that makes you happy like Born in the U.S.A by Bruce Springsteen, All-American Girl by Carrie Underwood, or American Saturday Night by Brad Paisley and I can go down the list 🙂

Let’s be clear that the Declaration of Independence is a pivotal document that earmarks an amazing thing that happened in America. Let me also highlight some facts about this day in case you didn’t know. In 1776, the amended Declaration of Independence, prepared by Thomas Jefferson, is approved and signed by John Hancock–President of the Continental Congress–and Charles Thomson, Congress secretary; 1803 The Louisiana Purchase is announced to the American people; 1895, the poem America the Beautiful is first published; 1960 the 50-star flag makes its debut in Philadelphia,…

This is indeed a great nation and I also wanted to bring a spiritual component in today. If we are in Christ, joined to Him by faith our pledge of allegiance, whatever our nation of origin or naturalization, is in Jesus. For the Christian, our citizenship in any nation aims to be “worthy of the gospel of Christ” (Philippians 1:27), not merely worthy of only that political state. At the end of the day, we are sons of God, not sons of Uncle Sam, yet still make sure you pay your taxes! Jesus said it great when He said give to Caesar what’s due Caesar and give to God what’s due to God. Let your annual submission to the IRS be a friendly reminder that our fundamental identity is in God, not only your country.

Enjoy your day, and God bless America and God bless each of you! #adakuinspires
