Thankful Thursday

Today I am highlighting my experiences during Christmas time in Nigeria vs. America. Having lived in Nigeria for fifteen years, there are a lot of memories to share. I am very thankful for my heritage as a Nigerian but at the same time blessed to have my whole family here in United States to celebrate Christmas with. Some of the stories I shared are quite hilarious so make sure you watch it till the end. For example, how my siblings all have parts of the chicken to eat on Christmas Day? Hmmm! Guess which part of the chicken I had to eat each year?? LOL

Anyway, I made a video of it already on my YouTube channel and I would like to share that link with you all. Please click the link below and don’t forget to subscribe to my channel

Congratulations to my brother, Joshua Ikotun. He graduated yesterday with his bachelors degree in Accounting and we couldn’t be more proud of him. I can tell you so much about this young man who continues to exude excellence in his studies. Not only did he graduate as one of top in his class, he already has a good job waiting for him in August. For the meantime, he will be working very closely with a CFO in an accounting firm getting more experience especially as the tax season approaches.

My sisters all flew down from Japan and also drove from New Jersey to celebrate him as well. We all screamed our lungs out as they called his name. We watched him step on that stage so majestically and collected his diploma. One thing I love about my brother Josh is that he’s very hardworking when it comes to his future. He doesn’t take no for an answer and he’s bold as a lion. We have a big family and he made sure that each of us got tickets to come to his graduation, including his two friends who cheered him on. Also, his scholarships got him through college which is outstanding.

Josh, Peter and I are extremely proud of you as well the entire IKOTUNS. I am especially thankful to have you as my brother to be a part of a family who loves, supports, and pushes one another to their best abilities. The sky is your limit and I know you have so much exciting things coming your way and I cannot wait to celebrate with you.
CONGRATULATIONS AGAIN

Thankful Thursday

Guess what! It’s all about juicing and I am so thankful for this healthy regimen in my life. I feel like I need to highlight this more than I did in my previous blog. So, last week as I mentioned, a friend of mine brought a gallon of juice in my house before heading to work and I thoroughly enjoyed it to the point my toddler was fighting with me to finish the drink. LOL!!!

Why am I highlighting this again? To be honest with you, I love juicing and I’ll admit I don’t do it often. Lately, I decided to get back on it and start again because I like healthy living. My friend coming to me was a reminder that it’s time to get back on it and you should join me in taking this stand. In saying “yes” to healthy body and “no” to sickness. I don’t know about you, but a sinus infection is not something I want to wish on my worst enemy because it’s NOT COOL. I believe there are things you can do, especially with this cold weather, to prevent sicknesses from invading into your body. Now let’s get to the fun part of this blog, shall we 🙂

One of my favorite fruits to have in the house is Pineapple. Who doesn’t love a fresh pineapple right? With pineapple, just add lemon and fresh ginger all in the blender and you have yourself an amazing juice. Lemons are rich in vitamin C and citric acid which your body needs. Ginger is one of those ancient spices that helps to boost and strengthen your immune system as well as increase your appetite.

Other fruit items I love to mix together are pineapple, banana, and mango. These are so good that you feel refreshed after you’ve had them in the morning or whenever preferable.

Last but not least, you can’t have any of these without a blender. You can use any blender you have and it will do the job. You don’t need to go all fancy for juicing. I usually use this one right below which does the job for me.

However, since I’m pretty serious about this, I decided to pull out my magic bullet which my dad bought for me a while ago. Can you see the dust around it? I pulled it out from where it was hiding and now it’s going to be put to use 🙂 Below is a picture of it.

Needless to say, I am very thankful to be alive and to pursue a road to healthy living. Who’s with me? Let me know if you would like to join me and let’s make this happen. Until then, I’ll catch you in my next one.

Xoxo

Thankful Thursday

Hey lovely people, I’m back!

Sorry I had to take some time off to recover from a week long sickness. You know when the weather keeps fluctuating and, one minute, it’s beautiful outside and then, the next minute, it’s cold outside. Well, that definitely affected me and now I feel much better. Just want to take a moment to say a big THANK YOU to all my friends out there who prayed for me. You know who you are and for the ones who came over to spend some quality time with me. Thank you also to my special friend who almost went to work late for dropping a gallon of fresh squeezed pineapple juice mixed with ginger, lemon, and sugar. To my mom who drove several times to come see me and, not only that, but she went grocery shopping and then cooked a delicious stew for the house. Even some of my friends could attest to that because it was so good.

To my hubby, thank you so much for always taking good care of me whether sick or not you make it a priority to make sure I’m good. It means a lot to have your support and I know I can go down the list but I want you to know that your support never goes unnoticed. I love you babe.

Today, I encourage you to take a moment to say “Thank You” to that person who has gone an extra mile to lend you help. Whether it is something small like starting up the car for you when it’s cold outside, or babysitting a whole day for you without any complaint. Don’t go assuming that they should know you’re thankful! That’s certainly not the right approach because nobody can read your heart, and that’s why it’s imperative to acknowledge it. You can do this by writing a note, and a phone call also goes a long way, but please don’t text! I’m more of a face-to-face acknowledgment, but whichever works for you, please do it and don’t wait too long. Too long might be too late for you.

Thank you again for joining me during this journey of my lifestyle blogging. I appreciate you following me for almost a year now. Wow! Thank you so much and I pray that your day is blessed.
